More participants, including a keynote speaker, will be joining in.
New York last month became the 15th state to legalize recreational adult-use marijuana, setting the stage for a new sector of the economy engaged in the legitimate growing, processing and selling of weed.
Coupled with the expansion of the state’s existing medical marijuana program and continuing growth in the industrial hemp/CBD industry, that offers the chance for any number of new business opportunities.
Although possession of up to 3 ounces of marijuana is now legal for those 21 and over, many other aspects of the new law will take time to get underway. The medical marijuana expansion should be starting in about six months, but the legal production and sales of recreational marijuana may take as much as two years to begin.
The state is still setting up an Office of Cannabis Management, which will oversee all aspects of marijuana, hemp, CBD etc. It will also be in charge of writing the specific rules and regulations for those businesses.
